What’s That!?
Today we’re really excited to release some updates to the core interactions in Flutter that move us closer to a more intuitive, lightweight experience for our daily players. These updates are informed by months of quantitative analysis on player data, and qualitative feedback from both experts and everyday players. Here’s a rundown on what we’ve changed and why:
Contextual Interactions: For new players and seasoned veterans (developers included!) we found it could be laborious and confusing to know what you should be dragging-and-dropping to keep your rainforest alive and at full productivity. To combat this we developed a system that would clearly show for each object in your world, what its state was, and what actions you could perform on it. With one click you can now expand and upgrade flower beds, feed animals and apply potions. This significantly smooths out the difficulty curve for new players, and makes the daily cycle for experienced players that much more straight forward.
Reminder Bubbles: We needed to make it clearer where there was something in the world that needed your attention, so alongside these new menus we’ve integrated a neat little bubble that alerts you when an item or creature needs your help. No more will you aimlessly flutter about the forest wondering what to do next, the inhabitants of the Amazon will just pop up a friendly reminder.
Daily Honeydew: One of the things that makes Flutter great is the fact you can just pop in once a day. A while ago we updated the harvesting system to take into account your local timezone and have the rainforest “recharge” overnight. This meant that no matter what time of day you found a few minutes to check in, you’d still get a full benefit of a daily harvest. We’ve now brought the pollination flowers in line with the idea, so you just have to pop them once a day to get your full 24 hours worth of Honeydew!
These changes don’t come lightly, and for our existing player base we appreciate that change in the world that you have come to know and love can be tough. We as players love the newfound fluidity that these updates have introduced to the game, and we’re confident they will lead to a better experience for all.
As always we are close knit with our community and appreciate all of the constructive feedback and generous support we receive from our passionate player base. As such we will continue to refine these new interactions and the game as a whole in partnership with our devoted fans.
Thanks again for all your support as we strive to make Flutter one of the best games on the Facebook platform

Hello!
8:45 pmThere are many French players, would it be possible to translate the game?

These changes, if you’re reading your wall and reviews area, are not being considered “TOUGH” by veterans of your game. They’re being considered money-grubbing, intrusive, fugly, horrible, “lack of thoughtfulness”, and just plain stupid.

These changes are awful, as is evident by the recent one star reviews being left, not to mention a large number of posts stating WHY the changes are bad. You should really consider reversing the changes.

Until today this was the best game on the block. The changes are the worst I’ve every seen. It’s not even a game any more – it’s just “click here”. I think you’re totally out of touch with your players.

The only problem I’ve found with these changed is the pop-up bubbles on roll over. I rolled over a seed chest to click it, ended up over the pop-up, and clicked to buy a premium item by mistake because of this. This then caused the game to freeze after I closed the unwanted dialogue box. Maybe some sort of alternative idea here to prevent error and freezing games?

So are you deleting comments from here now about the awful changes listed above. After playing this game to level 40 with no difficulty at all, and I’m not a rocket scientist, I think the popups and auto feeding etc are totally juvenile. Three messages to feed one forest beetle explaining what to do EVERY day! What brain level are you aiming for?

LOL Judith, I hate to say it, but I totally agree. One of the things I loved about the game is that it made you THINK. It wasn’t a total no brainer like most of the other games. I do love the new flower, it’s lovely. I also have to say I really hate the pure white speech bubbles and junk now all over my rain forest. It’s tacky and geared toward people who have to interest in improving their minds by actually using them. Sorry.

I love that there is always some new stuff happening.I love the game and play everyday. The only downfall I am really having a hard time with is when people send me gifts I have to write the names down then search for them in my MANY neighbors I have. That part leaves me not playing the game as much as I used to. If there was only a way to put a symbol by each neighbor that visited your grove and left you a gift so that way it would be easier to go and send something back to everyone. Thank you and I hope something can be done about this because it is a major problem for me and the game.

I, unfortunately, agree with the above comment (though I might have tried to be more polite in its delivery). Perhaps, if beginners think the game is difficult, you can keep these changes for lvl 10 and below? The pop ups are really rather annoying. However, regardless of whether you decide to keep the changes, I appreciate that you’re trying to make the game a better experience all the way around. Thank you for a wonderful game!

I hate the changes, and especially now that I can only really do something once a day until I get more Honeydew. On top of that, with these changes there is a glitch in one of my quests, if this isn’t resolved by Monday I am not going to continue playing.

2:33 amSame happened here.
I truky TRULY Regret that used even one single FB credit for this game.
Not fun anymore. No fun at all.
No interest to even visit in my grove anymore.

I know the developers are trying to keep everybody happy, but in my opinion, you have just taken a Beautiful game and Totally ruined it! I loved playing this game (without help for very many levels, as I could not find many players at that time). I enjoyed finding my own way through the forest. NOT knowing what to do with some of the things found along the way was part of the game; wondering what will be coming next and how will I do such-and-such. Again my opinion, it was fine the way it was; you should be concentrating on the forest beyond Level 40. You are already losing some of those players. All you have done is created “spoilers” by placing ugly white bubbles in a beautiful grove and forest. They cover items, they follow your butterfly, they spoil the “game”. If I was just starting to play this game, I would stop playing after seeing all the “spoilers”/ugly bubbles. I play a game, to find out ~~ for myself ~~ what will take place next. Also, must we re-decorate our groves now, because everything is out of place? A lot of players are devastated over the decorations being gone or misplaced. Did you take a poll regarding visiting the grove/forest only once a day? The forest and grove have lost their “real rainforest” look. Leave the “spoilers” for the players (such a Jo has done). If someone needs help, there is a lot of support out here for them. I could go on-and-on, but I think you get the point! This was one of the best games out there. Please go back to the way it was.

An “intuitive, lightweight experience”? Who exactly did you get your data from?
3:46 amI’m new to Flutter and and not appreciate being treated like a 5yr old. Part of the appeal was the challenge and you have successfully taken that away.
I really hope you take heed of all the negative comments that have been posted on Facebook or it seems that your game will have no players left!

I don’t think the pop ups are necessary past level 10, I enjoyed visiting my forest at various times. The look of wilted flowers is depressing. Please consider losing the pop ups past level 10, also, they are in English, how does that help the others playing
8:48 amfrom all around the world. I am an admin of a very nice group, Flutter Friends United. The response at every level has been negative. I know you put a lot of work in, but it seems most would like to see open areas rather than this. Sorry, but please consider.

Things I don’t like about the update:
1. It should always give you some sort of “are you sure?” message or an undo option before spending real money. It is too easy to do things accidentally with no way to get back to what you really wanted.
2. The dead red flowers in the forest look awful.
3. The cartoon bubbles look awful as well (and it was the peaceful beautiful of the game that made me become a fan.)
4. Also, the bubbles get in the way – I’ve had trouble clicking things in a crowded space because I would get the bubble of something nearby instead of what I wanted to click.
5. There are bubbles in my friends’ groves telling me to do impossible things like harvest their functional items again tomorrow. (Actually, it would be kind of cool if we could do things like feeding & watering for friends who have to be away from their computers for days.)

No one likes the changes to the game. Deleting the negative comments will not change that fact nor will it save your game from tanking now that you have angered the entire player base.

All comments on this blog have to be approved before they go live though thats just the way the system works, and all have been approved now. Sorry was in bed when these went up! Good old international time

Don’t like the changes so much either. I find the white bubbles intrusive and ugly on the beautifully coloured background. They may be good for levels up to say, five, but after that they are just annoying. The game isn’t that hard to understand.
11:46 amI do like the fact that the honeydew blooms stay “harvested” for longer, looking as they had been opened rather than withered, but don’t like that you can only collect once a day. Wouldn’t the motive here be to draw people into the game, rather than tell them to visit only once per day?

I think I have a good idea for an update for flutter. It would be cool if we could choose to feed our animals more than once a day if we wanted to. Like a feature were we could choose how many time a day our animals would get hungry.

I think the new changes are horrible! We should be able to turn off the tutorial bubbles over the animals and objects that need our attenition. For those of vetrans they are annoying and take away from game play. Although, I do agree it would have been helpful at the begining. Also, only being able to collect honeydew once a day is horrible. I like being able to go into the game many times a day to collect honeydew. Now there is no point in coming to the game more than once a day. I understand some people only play the game once a day, but MANY of us play more than that. You have taken a great game and dumbed it down so much that you are going to lose players!

I like the thought bubbles. However the popups interfere with gameplay, an this pretty much negates the advantage of not having to open menus
Not having to open menus also removes most of the “game” element, making this program shift from “game” to “daily job”. I believe most of your users like the game because it’s fun, and not a menial task like most other facebook games.
I tust you will take all comments into consideration and act on them.

I love playing Flutter, but I wish there were alternative ways to buy Special Items other than using Facebook credits. If only you could use Honeydew money to buy them, but it seems that with every game to get something or get somewhere Facebook credits have to be bought. Others may be able to afford it but unfortunately I cannot!
