For Parents & Guardians
Why was my child blocked from this game?
Our games carry age ratings, and new app store rules now require age verification and parental consent before some players can download or play. If your child was blocked, it's because the age set on their app store account places them below the age the game is made for.
The age category comes from your child's Apple or Google account, and the app store passes that information to us so we can apply the right rules. We can't see your child's identity or personal details, only the age category their account reports.
How we rate our games
Every one of our games is given an age rating in one of four categories:
-
Under 13: not permitted to download or play without the appropriate account setup
-
13 to 15
-
16 to 17
-
18 and over
You can see the rating for a game on its store listing. Whether your child can access a particular game depends on that game's rating and the age set on their app store account.
What you can do as a parent or guardian
Age settings and consent are managed through your app store's family controls, not through us directly. We receive the consent signal from Apple or Google and apply it. We can't override it from our end; but you can control consent by:
On Apple devices, consent and age categories are handled through Family Sharing and your child's Apple Account age settings. Apple's guide is here: Apple Family Sharing
On Android devices, this is managed through Google Family Link. Google's guide is here: Google Family Link
From there you can:
-
Check or correct the age set on your child's account
-
Grant consent for a specific app
-
Revoke consent for an app you previously approved, at any time
"My child is over 13 but is still being blocked"
This is the most common issue, and it almost always comes down to the age set on the app store account rather than anything in the game itself. If your child's account shows an age under 13, they'll be blocked even if their real age is higher.
To address this, update the age on their app store account using the Apple or Google links above. Once the account reflects the correct age, the block will lift. We aren't able to change this for you, because the age comes from the account, not from us.
How we handle your child's information
We take children's privacy seriously.
-
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
-
Any age information we receive from the app store for verification is used only to apply the correct age rules.
-
That information is transmitted securely using industry-standard encryption and is deleted after use.
For full detail, see our Privacy Policy for more information.
Frequently asked questions
Why does this game need age verification at all? In some territories, new laws covering app stores require age assurance and, for players under 18, parental consent before downloading apps or making in-app purchases. These rules apply to the app store and to us as the developer.
How do I grant my child access? Through your app store's family controls (Apple Family Sharing or Google Family Link). See the links above.
How do I revoke access later? The same way. You can withdraw consent for any app you've previously approved, at any time, through the same family controls.
I changed my child's age but they're still blocked. Changes can take a short while to sync, and the app may need to be reopened. If it persists, contact us using the details below.
